Artist statement- ‘My practice explores urban environments through dense, layered works that blur memory, space, and perception. Rooted in East London, I draw on personal and generational histories shaped by Cockney working-class culture, language, and identity, alongside post-war change and ongoing redevelopment. Through revisiting sites, documenting stories, and challenging inherited stereotypes, I reconstruct environments that exist between presence and absence, where lived experience and transformation intersect.

The rhythms, slang, and oral traditions of Cockney culture inform my understanding of belonging and self-definition, revealing how identity is performed, inherited, and continually reshaped across generations. These cultural markers both ground and constrain, carrying histories of resilience while reinforcing boundaries of class and place.

Through this, I explore the tension between inheritance and self-determination, creating spaces that remain unresolved, shifting, and open to reinterpretation.’
